Jeffh Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 Hello everyone, I have a 2002 banshee that ran good till last weekend. It will not idle and if you put a little pressure against throttle (however not enough to move slides in carbs) it will rev very high, but when you press throttle to move slides in carbs it works fine. Wondering if it's easier to disconnect electrical stuff to carbs, etc or any ideas on what is causing problem. Any help would be appreciated, thanks for your time. Quote
mdhc500 Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 If you have the T.O.R.S ditch them. If you have the parking brake ditch it. The simpler you can make the electrical system the better. Unfortunatly I have never dealt with all that is the T.O.R.S, but I know almost everyone here has ditched them. For trouble shooting purposes try an bypass those circuits. If you look under technical documents off the main page I think there is an Electrical FAQ document that BenBB put together. Its great stuff... Good luck, and provide as much info on what is going on, and what you have done thus far to troubleshoot... Quote

I would also try doing a search on T.O.R.S removal as well. Mine were already off when I got mine. I will do some searching and if I find anything I will post it back here... The TORS is doing exactly what it was designed to do and that is throw a fit and protect the rider if the cable or carbs have problems. You need to make sure you have cable play at the throttle lever and sync the carb slides. When you touch the lever and it zings, that means your throttle is partially stuck. EVERYONE wants to remove the TORS because they do not understand it. I agree they can be a pain but they do not fail near as much as people think. The failure usually lies in the cable or carb slide. NOTE, you notice how your bike wants to run wild with the TORS disconnected? It is doing it's job. Put a throttle cable on it and go ride... Brandon Edited August 26, 2008 by blowit Quote

This banshee ran fine until one day on coal piles, after riding half a day it started pulling this crap. Could it maybe be a bad switch in the throttle on the handlebars? I know it will rev when that switch is released. I'm not sure, it's really starting to get to me. Any help, Thanks Quote

I suppose it could be the throttle switch, but it actually sounds more like you have an aire leak on the intake tract some where. :geek: Quote

I know replaced the throttle assembly thinking it was the switch inside and it still will not idle and when the switch in the throttles contact is broken it revs real high, but the slides in the carbs are not moving yet. travis6767 Posted October 3, 2008 Report Posted October 3, 2008 do you have a boost bottle? , is there cracks in the intakes? if i were you i would take the tors shit off, if you have a boost bottle take it off, and look for cracks in the manifolds Quote
