MarineNYC Posted November 1, 2009 Report Posted November 1, 2009 The differance is psi and size. The size is determined by wether its an older import or a newer one. Will this fit a 05 TRX 450? Quote
AKheathen Posted November 1, 2009 Report Posted November 1, 2009 looks like you baught nos. (new old stock) it happens when manufacturers change part numbers, based on something about classifying the product. the new item with p/n 2472 is the 13psi import, while the old item with the 2472 is the domestic cap. since not all old stock is sold, retailers may still sell the nos under the same part#. same thing if you were to buy 02 caliper brackets, or you will notice it on hotrod cranks. Snopczynski Posted November 2, 2009 Author Report Posted November 2, 2009 I dont know what to tell you man, I have bought around 4 or 5 of them now. And all of them have fit stock and aftermarket banshee radiators. Just because yours is wrong, doesn't mean it will be wrong for everyone else. You could have had something as simple as a mis-packaged part. Quote
Alex29573 Posted November 2, 2009 Report Posted November 2, 2009 yea ima call mr gasket or Summit (who i bought it from) and get this sorted out thanks everyone for the input - ill let you guys know what happens Quote
Snopczynski Posted November 3, 2009 Author Report Posted November 3, 2009 You still would of had the wrong cap, you need the 16 psi cap for it to even be equivelant to the stock one. Quote
T_Shee Posted November 4, 2009 Report Posted November 4, 2009 thanks for the info snop. how much did you guys have to trim your radiator cover to see it well if at all? Quote
Snopczynski Posted November 4, 2009 Author Report Posted November 4, 2009 I did a hole right above it with a hole saw. Quote
papa_smurf49319 Posted November 4, 2009 Report Posted November 4, 2009 Nice, the caps held up to the vibration so far? Might just have to pick one up! Quote
bode1 Posted November 5, 2009 Report Posted November 5, 2009 Just noticed yesterday, mine says 16psi on the face of the gauge., what does yours say? Quote
T_Shee Posted November 5, 2009 Report Posted November 5, 2009 just got mine from summit today and it is a very nice looking cap. display is a little small but still readable. it will be interesting to see what kind of temps i see. Quote
Alex29573 Posted November 21, 2009 Report Posted November 21, 2009 guys it was a mistake by mr gasket (mispackaged or part number error).. i was sent a new one and right off the back i could tell it was smaller. it fits perfect onto the radiator and best of all i didnt have to do any modifications to my fullbore plastic.
