Im getting close just waiting for some more pilot jets to come :)

 

I should be getting my set of TM28's this week along with a whole slew of jets, and I'll be doing the jetting on Friday and this weekend. I'll be sure to let you know what I end up with so we can start building an information pool on these carbs!

 

What are your mods, just the carbs? You should look into a set of pipes... I may have a set for sale in fact :beer:

Yep i strangly like my stock pipes, give them a good cleaning the other day looking well nice. Once im jetted correctly maybe i'll start taking a look at pipes.

Too big of pilots. What needle, slide, needle/seat, and nozzle are in them?

 

Not sure on the slides and needles, I'll check when I get home. And I assume by "nozzle" you mean the needle jet?

 

What is the needle seat? I don't see that on the parts diagram on Sudco. Care to enlighten me?

The float arm contacts the needle, and the needle sits in the seat.

You mean the fuel valve? I don't see why that would affect the way the carb operates, I don't think they make different size fuel valves for carbs.

 

The only things that should matter for carb tuning is the slide, the pilot jet, the airscrew, the main jet, the needle, and the needle jet. I'm using Vito's jet kit needle (doesn't have markings on it), along with a 32.5 pilot and a 340 main. Slide cutaway is a 2.5; not sure about the needle jet, so it's probably the stock one that comes in the TM series.

What carb is that vito's needle made for, not the stockers I hope? The needle seat size does matter, it keeps fuel flowing correctly into the bowl, and helps with sloshing. Yes there are different sized needle/seats.

 

I am glad your telling me about the carb though, I dont know what I would have done if you hadn't listed off all that stuff that effects performance. Thanks for setting me straight on it! :thanks: :shoothead:

Wow, what a dick. So much for this forum being a place to get help on things.

 

I still don't see why a different size needle and seat will affect the carb flow. Not to mention for someone who appears to be soo knowledgeable about carbs, you'd refer to things by their proper terminology.

 

By the way, I plugged the carbs in place and had them tuned within a matter of an hour or so. No need to send them off to some yahoo to "set them up". Looks like you need to rethink your inks, fella.

 

Funny that you paid money to have it done though!

1. I didn't pay money to have it done. Dave is a friend of mine. I ordered the carbs brand new through him, and he ordered them with the right stuff based on what he has dyno tested with the setup. I actually paid less for the carbs brand new with all the stuff than you probably paid for your carbs without the right stuff.

3. You asked for help and then second guessed my answers based on what you think is right and not based on fact. That tells me there is no helping you because you think your smarter. Everything thats been put into my carbs has been proven to make a difference on a crank dyno. They also kick ass for everything I ride from sand trails, and holes, to some recreational drag racing on my seat of the pants dyno. I do a lot of tuning on the dunes and on the dyno with different parts all the time.

 

4. Dyno Dave is not a yahoo, he is a boeing QC engineer that worked on the stealth project. There is more smarts in his long ago circumsized penis foreskin than in your whole body.

well guys thought id end this one on a happy note, its been a long journey but me and my carbs have bonded and ive mastered the art of it, bike runs and pulls just how i like it woohoo, thanks for you guys help.
