Bansh-eman Posted July 20, 2008 Report Posted July 20, 2008 you can use either a packing like toomey or fmf sells or you can go to home depot and buy corning insulation and remove the paper and use it. Depending on what kind of pipes you have you either un-screw or drill the rivots and remove thje canister. pull out the old packing. wrap the new packing around the whole perferated core. get some masking tape and wrap it nice and tight arund the wrap to hold it in place. do not wrap the tape to overlap. wrap it nice and spread open but make it tight to the core, if that makes sense. then replace the core with new packing and screw the can back to the pipe.
