If you are mechanically inclined a banshee case split is a pretty easy damn job. You can pick a complete tranny up from ebay for 125--150 bucks all the time. While you are in there you could improve a few things like billet water pump, new clutch, modded shift star, weld/true crank and still spend way less than a grand and have a kick ass reliable bike.
