okbeast Posted June 16, 2008 Report Posted June 16, 2008 Sorry to hijack, but for future reference, is there any reason why ready rod couldn't be used to replace the head studs? Is readyrod the same as all-thread? I don't believe it has the same tensile strength as a stud would. Quote
bbcmudtruck Posted June 16, 2008 Report Posted June 16, 2008 Theres no way in hell I would use all thread for a head stud. As for head studs, FAST has them for $45 a set. Ryan Quote
250Rho Posted June 17, 2008 Report Posted June 17, 2008 if your in a real hurry then what ive had to do is get a helicoil kit a drill the basterd out and do the helicoils. ive done this to an air cooled head and it worked great. youd need a new stud one way or another. but if you can get it out without destroying the threads thats def the way to go. sounds like you got it raped so make sure the threads that are left are strong and will hold a new sud eithout stripping. i done that before and thats when i did the heilicoils. ride it like you stole it baby, i wish i could come with you! Quote
