docjcwatson Posted June 9, 2008 Report Posted June 9, 2008 Took the frame and a couple other pieces to get powder coated. It looks like the dude did what I said, by not coating any threads completely. Now there seems to be something wrong, because I can't get certain things to re-thread. Things like the spindles and other major components. So my question is, how do I clean out the left over powder coating out of the threads? Or do I re-thread? Quote
ThrowinRoost89 Posted June 9, 2008 Report Posted June 9, 2008 just run a tap throught them to clean the powder out. Quote
docjcwatson Posted June 9, 2008 Author Report Posted June 9, 2008 That's what I figured! :: Thanks Quote
okbeast Posted June 9, 2008 Report Posted June 9, 2008 Ya PC is hard as shit, sucks that he did that. Quote
docjcwatson Posted June 9, 2008 Author Report Posted June 9, 2008 Yeah he tried not to. He damn a pretty good job. I can't complain for a same day turn around! Lol. Quote
shanYE west Posted June 9, 2008 Report Posted June 9, 2008 Place that did my coating was nice enough to go through and run taps through all my threads for me. Quote
Bansh-eman Posted June 9, 2008 Report Posted June 9, 2008 Place that did my coating was nice enough to go through and run taps through all my threads for me. thats a good shop right there! Quote
okbeast Posted June 9, 2008 Report Posted June 9, 2008 I did the prep work myself on mine, guess that pays off too, only took a night I think. Quote
locogato11283 Posted June 9, 2008 Report Posted June 9, 2008 good powdercoaters will put plastic plugs in there while they sprap it, then you dont have that kinda bullshit. Quote
docjcwatson Posted June 9, 2008 Author Report Posted June 9, 2008 Naw, he didn't use plastic plugs. He used some kind of tape. I know this because I pulled it off a lot of the parts. The parts he forgot, are the parts I am having problems with. Quote
locogato11283 Posted June 10, 2008 Report Posted June 10, 2008 i would take that shit back to him.. did he cut you a break since he fucked up? PCing is not an area where you want a guy fuckin up. that can cause a lot of problems. Quote
docjcwatson Posted June 10, 2008 Author Report Posted June 10, 2008 No. I don't think I want to take it back. Only because, he charged me $65.00 an hour. I dropped it off at 1 o clock on sunday. I got it back at 9 o clock on sunday. I thought it was a damn good deal for $165. What do you guys think? Quote
rubberneck Posted June 13, 2008 Report Posted June 13, 2008 Sounds like a great deal to me. That kind of deal on any day is amazing let alone a Sunday. Nothing a few turns of the tap cant fix. Its agood idea to chase all the threads anyway. Makes assembly go real smooth. Quote
Banshee~ Posted June 16, 2008 Report Posted June 16, 2008 i just got my 450 frame done and they stuck the plastic plugs in all the holes id bitch at that guy if i was you Quote
