ITALIABANSHEE Posted June 3, 2008 Report Posted June 3, 2008 Just wondering if you advance the timing do I need to upgrade the studs or any engine component. t-5, open airbox k&n, VP fuel. thx fellas Quote
Onesickcrewcab Posted June 3, 2008 Report Posted June 3, 2008 If you advance your timing to +4 you shouldnt need any upgrades. If you go above +4 you will most likely need to run race fuel depending on your compression Quote
locogato11283 Posted June 3, 2008 Report Posted June 3, 2008 no, just make sure youre running fuel with enough octane for the timing advance.. Quote
ITALIABANSHEE Posted June 3, 2008 Author Report Posted June 3, 2008 Thanks for the quick reply. What size domes should you use if you run Race fuel? Does it matter? Quote
2Smoker Posted June 3, 2008 Report Posted June 3, 2008 A timing advance doesn't require you to change anything. I modified my stock plate +4 and it was the cheapest best mod I have ever done. I would change the domes to give you 160-170 PSI to go with the timing advance and run straight race fuel. Quote
dajogejr Posted June 3, 2008 Report Posted June 3, 2008 Thanks for the quick reply. What size domes should you use if you run Race fuel? Does it matter? Every bike and motor is different, some run pump gas in 170PSI motors, some run race fuel in 155PSI motors. It makes no sense to run race fuel on a motor that doesn't need it...there are no advantages. But when you start creeping up there with timing and compression....I'd rather be safe than sorry.... ITALIABANSHEE Posted June 3, 2008 Author Report Posted June 3, 2008 Any particular timing plate to use or are they all the same? Install difficulty? thx Quote
dajogejr Posted June 3, 2008 Report Posted June 3, 2008 Any particular timing plate to use or are they all the same? Install difficulty? thx You 100% must have the right tool (thread in) to remove the flywheel. Other than that...piece of cake. Click on the chariot performance link in my signature, it's his ebay store. He makes a very nice billet timing plate, at a lot less than the pro-design one.... Better quality than the RS plate, cheaper than the PD billet plate. Perfect balance. Quote
