shee00 Posted May 25, 2008 Report Posted May 25, 2008 I need some help and don't know what else to do. I have a stock 00 banshee that I have maintained pretty well since i have traded it about 4 years ago and never had any problems until today. I had pulled it out after sitting for about 4 months and prior to that I had no issues. Ran like champ. So i try to start it today and choke it and it starts up. I put in the choke an it will not idle and I cannot feather the gas to stay idling. So this is what its doing. It will not idle w/o the choke pulled out 1 click. however it i am playing with the throttle and push in the choke i can keep it going at a high high RPM. then when i get it down to a pretty low rpm it dies out like its bogging down and I have a hard time preventing it from stalling from there. It runs better with the choke pulled out. It will not start unless the choke is pulled out 1 click it will ride only at a high RPM and when i slow it down it boggs and dies. It sometimes see less smoke coming out the left pipe and it seems to not be pushing as much exaust. it sputters like it spush air. Left plug was wet (prob running rich) maybe my gas ratio? So this is what i ended up doing. i drainged the gas and got new gas and mixed it 28:1 (yahamalube recommends 24:1) alittle confused with the ratio stuff i see alot of you guys doing 30.1. any recommendations? Also pulled the carbs and shot carb cleaner to clear out any stuff just incase it got gummed up and looked at the floats and they look ok. overall it look really clean.. Put new plugs in with a gap of .07-.08. At this point i am at a loss as it made no difference. U all have any reccommendations as I do not know what else to do and I need to go riding! Quote
hylander88 Posted May 25, 2008 Report Posted May 25, 2008 Pilot jets need cleaned. Brandon you may have an air leak....O-ring in the chock maybe warn out and when you pull the chock out it seals it.........had that problem with mine...the O-rings are metric if you can find them and a new plunger is about 25 bucks ........ 00tbanshee Posted May 25, 2008 Report Posted May 25, 2008 also make sure the choke tube between the carbs is hooked up and in the right spot Quote
shee00 Posted May 27, 2008 Author Report Posted May 27, 2008 also make sure the choke tube between the carbs is hooked up and in the right spot Well i cleaned out both carbs and they are spotless. so I ended up losing spark and so I think it is something other than clogged carbs. Prob explains why my left plugg was wet and the othe was try. I was firing on 1 cylender which probably explains no idling. I traced it down to the TOS. i am pretty certain that its the switch in that above the carb. I had the ohm meter and it beeps on the right carb and noth thother. does this sound a bbout irght. Whats everyones opinion on the TOS and how hard is it to put on the TOS removal kit? Any benefits or draw backs? If there i anything else that can make my shee run like this please let me know. Quote
xXBlessedWithDeathXx Posted May 27, 2008 Report Posted May 27, 2008 you can disconnect the TORS by unplugging the 2 wires from the harness to the TORS and unplugging the wire below and to the left of the gas tank. it will be plugged into a little black box that you can smash violently. your advantages are you will know if thats it. if it is or not i would get the kit to eliminate them. all you need to do is grill tap and screw in the idle screw. they come with detailed directions. its very simple. you can get kits with every thing included even the new throttle cable you will need. The TORS system does not work like that and will kill both cylinders. If the bike will idle with choke, you need to revisit the carbs and specifically the pilots. We used to get 5 bikes a week that were "clean" but the things that counted were clogged. If you want to bypass the TORS, just unplug it. Plugs on the carb tops and the black box located just above the LH cylinder on the frame rail. You may also want to verify that the choke xover tube is in place and not cracked and your slides are synced properly. Sure sounds like a tuning, sync problem, or coil wire/plug cap problem from here. One side firing is just not TORS induced. Brandon Edited May 27, 2008 by blowit Quote
xXBlessedWithDeathXx Posted May 27, 2008 Report Posted May 27, 2008 (edited) Below is a link to what you need. i actually think thats a decent price, but you should unplug the tors to see if thats the problem. if not then you know its not but i would also still get that mod to take that shit off your bike. Ebay. i just found a second kit for 4 or so bucks more that you dont need paypall for. ebay Edited May 27, 2008 by xXBlessedWithDeathXx Quote

Now is there any benefit to have them removed or will is serve the same purpose just to unplugg them? I see alot of postings saying to get rid of them but i haven't see anything other than they are a pain to work on the carbs wit them on. Again thanks for all you help! Quote
