bansheejoel Posted May 17, 2008 Report Posted May 17, 2008 i can let my banshee sit for hell, a month and it wont leak a drip of oil but if i fire it up and run it for a minute or so and look at it the next day there is a little puddle under it. Where could it leak from the kickstarter seal?? thanks Quote
bunboy1 Posted May 17, 2008 Report Posted May 17, 2008 it can leak anywhere there is an oil seal and clutch cover gasket. try idling your motor and looking around and try to visually see where it is coming from. look under the motor, if there is a puddle of oil, there should be a drop of oil hanging off of something. rubberneck Posted May 17, 2008 Report Posted May 17, 2008 My brothers bike was doing same thing, there was a chunk of gasket missing out of the top of the clutch cover gasket. when the bike would run the oil would splash around, find the gap and then dribble down the back of the cover. FYI, a great trick for finding oil leaks on any thing. Clean everything really well and spray it with athletes foot powder (or anything that will leave a white residue in an aerosol can) run it and then look for the streak of oil in the powder. Quote
locogato11283 Posted May 18, 2008 Report Posted May 18, 2008 there is a vent tube that comes out the back of your motor. where is that routed to? sometimes they will leak tranny oil out of them. Quote
bansheejoel Posted May 18, 2008 Author Report Posted May 18, 2008 rubberneck, that powder idea is a good one i will have to try that. Loco i checked that vent tube and its routed up front so it would have to run down the frame first and thats dry....i ran it yesterday and it hasnt dripped...its odd it only does it once in a while but i dont want to let it drip and get sand stuck to my cases lol. wesw Posted May 19, 2008 Report Posted May 19, 2008 if it comes out the vent tube have seen the water pump seal go weak and pressure the tranny fluid and cause it to leak. just another thought Quote

Maybe it only does it after you let it sit for a while? Quote
