jaredvh Posted May 5, 2008 Report Posted May 5, 2008 When I start my shee to go riding all is fine, it runs great and then after about 20 mins of riding it starts to have a miss to it. It just gets worse until finally I have to keep it revved pretty high to keep it running. It won't idle, it just dies out. Quote

RollinRhino Posted May 5, 2008 Report Posted May 5, 2008 Also I would seriously check the cooling temps on that thing. 20 minutes just happens to be when the rig is at full operating temperature. Might have some coolant issues, which poor timing can also cause if the curve is advanced too far. Quote
jaredvh Posted May 5, 2008 Author Report Posted May 5, 2008 I've heard a number of things such as top end, CDI, coil, TORS....pretty much sums up anything that could go wrong with a banshee so I thought I'd ask for opinions and get some more specific ideas. Also, would it be possible that it's just plugs and when they get hot they don't spark very well? Thanks for your help!! Quote

May as well throw the stator in the ring, they act up when the bike heats up.............. Quote

fastbanshee8 Posted May 7, 2008 Report Posted May 7, 2008 (edited) You can throw new spark plug boots into the mix also. They're pretty cheap, and easy to change. The very first thing you should buy, is a Clymer's manual, because it has step by step instructions on everything you'll want to do, plus pics. The manual is a must have. Lots of very good info. dajogejr Posted May 7, 2008 Report Posted May 7, 2008 One of three things, realistically two...though. 1. Jetting is so pig fat, it'll start and run good cold (they need more fuel dead cold) but when it warms up...it's too fat and fouls the plugs. 2. Electrical, could be any one of the items listed. Heated up, electrical problems show their head. 3. Overheating (most unlikely) unless you're blowing coolant out the overflow tube....and reving the piss out of it would only make things worse. Quote
BB3 Posted May 7, 2008 Report Posted May 7, 2008 Sounds to rich to me also, had the same problem on my girl's shee. Quote
Black&Red87 Posted May 7, 2008 Report Posted May 7, 2008 Sounds to me like your running way rich, but if you still have TORS try unplugging it and see if there is a difference I ve had that issue before. Quote
IrideA250R Posted May 7, 2008 Report Posted May 7, 2008 Have seen a stator act like that. ditto Quote
endofitall9 Posted May 7, 2008 Report Posted May 7, 2008 i had an 87 that done the same exact thing..and couldnt figure it out..it done it from day one and finally i cracked the topend open and figured out why...the people i got it off of didnt let it get the proper warm up time and it partially froze the rings.. it would run great until it started getting really warm then it would just run like shit..redid the top end and shee screamed...i say check your compression....! Quote
dajogejr Posted May 7, 2008 Report Posted May 7, 2008 Fine point. Do a cold and warm compression check. Quote
