blowit Posted May 1, 2008 Report Posted May 1, 2008 Hoping someone here has a data sheet for this by chance. We have "misplaced' our install guide for Hotcams for the YFZ. I cannot remember but something is different about the alignment from the OEM cams. I looked at it from the stock settings and it is opening the exhaust way off. Anyone happen to have an install guide for these. We are trying to get a motor completed this evening. If anyone knows of a database for this tech info, that might help too. Thanks Brandon Quote
Snopczynski Posted May 1, 2008 Report Posted May 1, 2008 Doesn't their website have the install guides. Quote
Bansh-eman Posted May 1, 2008 Report Posted May 1, 2008 Brandon, on the exhaust cams you can retard them one tooth from the oem marking, maybe thats why its opening at the wrong time. because its got too much retarded timing on it? Quote

Remember these are Hotcams. That mod was is the hot setup for OEM cams, but I have not heard of it for a Hotcam. Quote

IrideA250R Posted May 1, 2008 Report Posted May 1, 2008 (edited) I have a YFZ 450 with hot cams. Do NOT retard the HC exhaust cam 1 tooth, you ONLY do that with the OEM exhaust cam. Each cam has 2 dots on it. With the engine at TDC (look in hole for marks on flywheel), you set the dots so that one dot is straight up, and the other aligns with the flat part on the head. If you do it right, there will be 14 chain pins between the 2 upper dots. Don't forget to release the cam chain tensioner before starting the bike. Do not tighten it at all, just let its own tension do the trick. Edited May 1, 2008 by IrideA250R Quote
