LeadBoots Posted April 30, 2008 Report Posted April 30, 2008 I took apart the shee today because of an airleak. So I thought I would take a look at the water pump too since I was taking everything else apart. I have a billet waterpump and when I took it out there was groove in the shaft. The whole inside of the seal was ripped apart They both have only been in the engine for maybe 8 hours. If I would have put the seal in backwards would this have happened or can you even put it in backwards? Can I just lightly sand the grooves out? Quote
locogato11283 Posted April 30, 2008 Report Posted April 30, 2008 i dont think it matters on the seals direction. was the seal in there straight? Quote
LeadBoots Posted April 30, 2008 Author Report Posted April 30, 2008 was in there as far as it went Quote
LeadBoots Posted May 1, 2008 Author Report Posted May 1, 2008 will the grooves be alright there not very deep Quote
moneybags Posted May 2, 2008 Report Posted May 2, 2008 Water pump seal should says water side on one side. By chance is your buillet water pump a mobquad? Quote
fastquad02blaster Posted May 2, 2008 Report Posted May 2, 2008 I was told not to purchase an impeller from modquad because the shaft on them is aluminum too. The seal will actually wear a groove in your shaft and then both will need replaced after very few hours. Make sure that the impeller that you get next has a steel or chromoly shaft. It won't wear out. Quote
