sa3ood_banshee Posted May 4, 2008 Report Posted May 4, 2008 hey i dnt mean to jack ur thread but im sure ull need this info, does he need a long rod or no??? sa3ood Quote
gregrob Posted May 5, 2008 Author Report Posted May 5, 2008 Might not need it but I WANT it lol. From what I understand the long rod puts much less stress on the piston and rod because of the gentler angle on the stroke. I did specify to Kevin that I wanted the long rod crank, I'm sure he will take care of me either way. Quote
gregrob Posted May 5, 2008 Author Report Posted May 5, 2008 R ya goin big or what! The 4 mil will eat a clutcth bro. Get the lockout now, save some hassle down the road... Yeah going with the 4mil. We make a little less hp up here and the heavy duty tusk kits seem to hold up good. Will go lockout of I have to though. Quote
gregrob Posted May 5, 2008 Author Report Posted May 5, 2008 I just got back from kevins,He really does great work...I will prolly see your cylinders next week....Good luck with the rest of your build...You wont be disapointed! Cool! I'm excited, just really hope I can get it together and tuned before memorial day. Quote
gregrob Posted May 12, 2008 Author Report Posted May 12, 2008 Well cylinders, crank, pingel, top end kit, pancake, reeds, etc on their way back from Kevin. I want to give him a HUGE thank you for turning my motor around so fast. I'm glad we could work something out or I would have been screwed for memorial day riding haha! I hope to have it back together and tuned this coming weekend. Cost a pile, I just hope she runs good! Quote
Wildcardracing Posted May 12, 2008 Report Posted May 12, 2008 I think you'll be happy, never heard a bad thing about Kev's work  Quote
theshee Posted May 12, 2008 Report Posted May 12, 2008 Greg, if you are going to climb that bike at all get a lockup. With your weight and that motor it will melt clutches bad in the climbs t walden with out one... If you need swingarm I have a +6 too... Quote
gregrob Posted May 13, 2008 Author Report Posted May 13, 2008 I'll definitely be climbing with it. If the Tusk don't hold I'll do FZR plates with Barnett steels, don't really want to go to a lockout. Seems like it would be a lot harder to modulate the clutch in the technical stuff. I'm probably going to go +4 on the swingarm, at the most, but I need a better rear shock before I do. Quote
Leadfoot350 Posted May 13, 2008 Report Posted May 13, 2008 I have a 7mm done by kevin and I weigh 215ish. You dont need a lock up. I pulled a blaster out in glamis with Kevin on it. We were trying to get over a hill but there was no easy way around it so I just put it in either 2 or 3 and floored it. When my bike hit the power band damm we took off quick. I have a +6 swing arm too and the front tires were coming off the ground and I had to feather the throttle up the hill. I have the yahama street bike fibers and I think all 6 stiff springs. This clutch is 3 years old too when the bike was a 350cc. I only use the clutch to take off and when I come to a stop so the 6 springs is not and issue and I have gorrilla hands too. Quote
