Changed from Gear oil to ATF TYPE F

Is this normal? First time I have ran anything but gear oil in it, never noticed the heat like today. WTF is up? :sad:

I use Motul transmission oil. If I remember correctly, it's a synthetic blend. It seems to run nice and cool, and shifts like a dream. It's a little pricy, but worth it.

This was just some good old QS atf type F. The only reason i changed is the oil I was using seamed to make my clutch slip, now it grabs hard as hell, but I know its hotter..

use a 2 stroke transmission oil like maxima mtl fluid.

Jeff told us to run ATF type F and we've had no problems at all with it. How can you tell it's hotter than normal?

I've been running ATF Type F in my 2 stroke trannies for years and years, it works great and is cheap. I change it every other ride or so.

After about 20 min i could feel the heat in my boots. Never has it seemed so hot. I could be looking into it too much, But you know This is my baby It breaks, and I will put myself in the poor house just to fix it!

I use Hurst Hot Shift ATF and noticed it ran a little warmer but nothing major. I will say that the clutch grabs way better than before.

The good about running ATF is it's cheaper and easier to find. The bad is you have to change it more often because it gets "muddy" sooner.

type F in the shee, RM and KTM, never any problems but you do have to change it more often. Never noticed a hotter thing

i started running ATF type F just this year.....its real cheap at the BX on base. i just picked it up because yamaha dealer is too exspensive and that some of you on here use it and thought id give it a try.

I run 10w30 in mine. Is the switch to ATF worth it? Im about to swap clutches so I need to know if it is.

 

 

 

 

By the way. I had a "Vito's" clutch and it has sucked since day one. It got so bad this weekend I barely ,ade it back home. I had to idle it all theway back. Anymore and it would just rev up.

 

 

I did have my girl on the back but shes 5'2"/110lbs and fine as hell. LOL! Im not blaming it on her!
