keep losing the jam nut (backs off) on clutch push rod (don't have the manual in front of me i believe its push rod) center cable adjuster on clutch. lose all tension on clutch cable. nothing appears to be stripped only pulled cover to put back on after finding. rode for a few minutes now back where i started. backed off again. any help will be appreciated. thanks

Are you sure it's tight? Hold the center with a good phillips screwdriver and tighten the jam nut as much as you can without stripping the phillips.

red loctite.

That would definitely work..has anyone actually done this? The phillips end of the rod is easy as hell to strip..I'd be afraid it would be difficult to take back apart. Blue or green loctite would be more forgiving imo.

I remember messing with that on my shee shen I put it back together last time and I had to take the tension off by loosening up the the six tension springs on the clutch itself. I think that with the heavy duty springs I used from FAST it put too much tension on that philips haed and nut, but when the six bolts were loosened then it turned really easy. So, if you are tightening it with tension on it already and when the tension is removed (clutch engaged) it may be backing off...............

thanks for the info. was going to loctite it but will probally pull the clutch and double check everything since the cover will be off again. a few people i've talk to thought it could be the bearing inside, not sure though. i will have to tear into it when i get back from jamaica next week.

If you're getting into the clutch cover than might as well check that bearing, it usually slides right out no prob. It would be a good time to get that pancake bearing installed. replaces the screwdriver with an allen wrench!
