fourjs Posted April 22, 2008 Report Posted April 22, 2008 are the pro-x and the wiseco the same size in diameter? the piston that was in the banshee has 150 on it, pro-x is 66.5mm, ( I think) but was going to put the same size wiseco in it , would it require a boring or just a honing to get the rings to set? thanks... locogato11283 Posted April 23, 2008 Report Posted April 23, 2008 depends. whats the reason for the rebuild? are the cylinder walls all messed up? Quote
FireHead Posted April 23, 2008 Report Posted April 23, 2008 Very generally speaking forged pistons require a larger bore than cast pistons. I can look up the bore size for you for either if you give me the piston part number. :geek: Quote
fourjs Posted April 23, 2008 Author Report Posted April 23, 2008 reason for rebuild was low compression on right cylinder wall has minor scratch on it, should come out with honing so pro-x are forged and wiseco are are cast? as far as the part numbers, I was looking at magic racing for the wisecos, would have to shop around to find some pro-x, thats why I was wondering if the diameter where app. the same, did not wont to order and have it not work correctly, especially if it needs to be cleaned up a little more than I thought thanks... shanYE west Posted April 23, 2008 Report Posted April 23, 2008 the Pro-x pistons are casted. With both pistons being 66.5. Generally the (forged pistons) wiseco will require a bigger piston/cylinder clearance over the (casted pistons) Pro-X. Quote
mopar1rules Posted April 24, 2008 Report Posted April 24, 2008 (edited) exactly, the wisecos are forged and the pro-x's are cast. the reason for the larger bore needed on the forged wisecos, is cause they expand at a different rate and more than cast pistons. if u go w/the wisecos, give it a little more time to warm up, or you could have a cold siezure, if you give it hammertime too soon.
