Bansh-eman Posted April 15, 2008 Report Posted April 15, 2008 the nut should tighten against the inner hub which pushes against the washer thats between it and the basket. Quote
bansheejoel Posted April 15, 2008 Author Report Posted April 15, 2008 (edited) both times ive changed my gear oil it has only had maybe 2-3 hrs max on it and there was shiny shavings mixed in with the gear oil in the bottom of my case under my clutch is that normal? i know that things wear and there will be some but i didnt know if it should do it so often....its not like pieces or anything just REALLY REALLY FINE shavings....i just went and checked and the basket wiggles about half the thickness of a penny.... Banshee0028 Posted April 15, 2008 Report Posted April 15, 2008 before i first took off my clutch basket it didnt wiggle at all then i put it all back together now it is able to wiggle a little bit. Its almost like the basket isnt tightening down or something...the inner clutch hub is tight and doesnt wiggle at all....what could it be? the two washers touch on the large metal bushing so when you tighten it down all the force is on the bushing, its not actually tightening down the basket right? i think maybe my copper bushing inside my basket of worn out...are they hard to replace? thanks I had what sounds like the exact same problem as you....I bought a new billet basket thinking it was the problem, nope same movement. Bought a new brass washer\spacer thing, same thing. I would say your clutch is fine. I would run it like that as long as its not really loose. Quote
bansheejoel Posted April 15, 2008 Author Report Posted April 15, 2008 when you change your gear lube should there be a little bit of FINE shavings of stuff in the oil? Quote
Bansh-eman Posted April 16, 2008 Report Posted April 16, 2008 when you change your gear lube should there be a little bit of FINE shavings of stuff in the oil? yea thats the metal from the fibers and steels slipping a little. as long as its not big peices are a ton of little ones you should be ok Quote
bansheejoel Posted April 16, 2008 Author Report Posted April 16, 2008 so a little movment of the clutch basket is normal correct? not left and right movment but rather push and pull movement....just want to make sure before i put it all together with the new inner and outer hubs and new clutch.... bansheejoel Posted April 17, 2008 Author Report Posted April 17, 2008 its the complete basket that is wiggleing on the bushing.....i can see right where its comming from, its comming from inbetween the large metal bushing/spacer and the copper bushing that is pressed into the basket....the copper bushing in the basket rides on the large metal spacer/bushing.....its like either the copper bushing is wore or the metal bushing/spacer is wore....i ordered a new metal bushing/spacer from f.a.s.t. so all thats left is that copper bushing that rides on it....can those be pressed out and a new one pressed in? Quote
Bansh-eman Posted April 17, 2008 Report Posted April 17, 2008 I'm not sure if the stocker can be pressed or not. never dealt with the stock basket, i changed mine to a hinson setup right after i got the bike Quote
bansheejoel Posted April 17, 2008 Author Report Posted April 17, 2008 yeah but your running a hinson basket but you still have the stock back with the gear on it and the same copper bushing im talking about.......has anyone put a new copper bushing in there basket hub?? if so where did you buy it from? thanks....
