I'm in the process of deciding what type of override I am going to put in my bike and I hear alot of talk about the neutral down option. Whitaker only charges an extra $15 for this. I'm thinking this means that neutral is "below" 1st gear instead of between 1st/2nd? Is that correct? And you still pull the shifter up to upshift like normal?

If someone could just clarify that for me and opinions on whether its good or bad would also be appreciated. I will be using this with my 4mm motor for drags and duning. It will be a duneable trans.

Thanks guys

There is only ONE small, small issue.

At the end of a run...you keep on downshifting as you're coming to a stop, and I've went into Nuetral a few times, gave it some gas...and let the clutch out...only to have it go nowhere.

That is the only downside, if you can even call it that....

That is a better downside than finding N on a hill climb or a race.

I think you are on the right road. Neutral on bottom is the way to go but that is my opinion.

just have to remember to click up twice if ya wanna start in second right dave :yelrotflmao:

alot of the hill racers like the n down because they can get to the end of the run, click it into n and coast back down the hill.

Um...yeah, I think I know "a guy" that did that...once or twice...LOL.

Let me tell you from experience, if you're geared to run 300 feet and start off in 2nd gear, but accidentally leave in first, you will fry your tires, drop 3 tenths off your time and sit there for a while thinking...WTF is wrong with my bike...

JT thought he was gonna own me that day...LOL...
