Getting The Blackness The Chrome?

hey guys. i got Toomey T5's on my banshee. the bottom of the pipes where they hook up to the engine are kind of black and blue. is it possible to get them clean? is the black stuff tar? Please help!

its probly just premix and dirt that has collected over time. use a rag and gas and wipe it down, then you can polish the pipes back out if there is bluing on them

You can also buy stuff made to polish the blue out that works well, I just cant remember the name right this second. I used to use it on my harley pipes all the time. The blueing was caused by a lean condition. When I got the harley dyno tuned in, the blueing was drastically reduced, and the bike ran better too....go figure! :biggrin:

chrome does that when it gets hot. you can polish it.

Just like everyone said, you can polish it but over time its just going to blue again...

Agreed...Chrome pipes require alot of

maintenence. If you dont use some

sort of polish compound after every

ride, the blueish discoloration will

come back quickly.

wat about the black, will the black come off? all i have to do is buy chrome polish, apply it, and the pipes will be clean (no blackness or blue)?

Product Blue Away is supposed to take care of that, I've seen it at Cycle Gear. Never tried it myself though.
