NitroTate Posted March 4, 2008 Report Posted March 4, 2008 Hey I'm pretty sure I'm good to go on my end gap but it doesn't hurt to throw the question out there... What do you guys recommend for the ring end gap measurment? Let me know if you need to have more information to answer... A very experienced (in motorcross, not necessarily Banshees) friend of mine did the boring and honing and we've done the cylinders nice and tight so needless to say I'm doing a LOT of heat cycling once I'm back together. Thanks for the input. Quote
Bansh-eman Posted March 4, 2008 Report Posted March 4, 2008 your gap depends on the type of piston and the size of the bore. if your using wiesco prolites on a stock bore it calls for .010 - .012 gap Quote
tgbanshee Posted March 5, 2008 Report Posted March 5, 2008 (edited) From what I remember, I think it is 0.004" for every inch diameter of the piston. Stock pistons are 64mm which is about 2.5197". 2.5197 * 0.004 = 0.010 So the minimum your end gap should be is 0.010". Off hand I don't remember what the max the end gap can be is, but I think it says in the Clymers manual for stock and the first size overbore. Edited March 5, 2008 by tgbanshee Quote
00tbanshee Posted March 5, 2008 Report Posted March 5, 2008 i can't remember what it is for each piston size.if you are running wiesco just check the paper the comes with the rings it says on it. Quote
