tedd1
So, the right side rod bearing is trashed. Do I repair/replace the crank, or stroke it? Does anyone make a short rod 4 mil stroker? Or, will I have to work on the jugs to keep the timing right? Enlighten me, please. Thanks, Rick
Bansh-eman
they make normal length rod strokers, but the rod length does nothing to your timings. the rod length is madeup in the placement of the wrist pin on the piston. Get a long rod crank, the angle is reduced taking alot of strain off the lower half of the motor. as far as rebuild /repair. it would cost you around the same to get a stroker crank as to fix that one, only thing is you also need to get your motor ported for the new stroke. this is a perfect time to get that dune port or what ever type port work you have been wanting for your riding style. Talk to Kevin at Herr Jugs Racing. He can set you up with a narley port job at a fair price and a VERY reasonable turn around time. http://www.herrjugsracing.com/ 760-815-1316 kevinherr@herrjugsracing.com let him know i sent you, he will take good care of you. iv sent alot of guys to him and i havent heard a single bad thing about his work, his turn around time, or anything. He will cal you back, and thats getting rare these days
tedd1
Ok, so if I stroke it, I will have to have it re-ported? There is no other way?
Bansh-eman
you can do the spaer plate but thats the halfass way to do it. you give your self more places to have an air leak and blo the motor, plus your port timings will not be correct so your going to lose power.
