Twistedtrik Posted February 22, 2008 Report Posted February 22, 2008 I live in Southern Arizona, Elev. 4400 ft. and I ride Yuma Elev. 220 ft. quite a bit. This being my 1st Banshee, I tore into it to fix minor stuff and was curious on what the jetting was at. My mains are 350s and it ran pretty damn good that way here at home. Seems like 350s might be a little large from reading other posts. The guy I bought it from said it was jetted for Yuma and would be fine to leave it like it is to ride here. 4180 ft. difference in elev. seems like alot to not change jetting to me. Here is a list of what it has done to it so maybe you guys can give me an idea. CPI in frames w/ silencers Pro-Flow 2 into 1 intake with K&N TORS Removed Boysen power reeds Everything else is stock engine wise. I also forgot to mention that with the GAY ASS boost bottle, 1 of my intake boots had a small tear in it and it went all the way through if moved just right. So it may have been leaking a little air right around where the bottle mounted. I have a stock crossover coming and will be making a paper weight out of the bottle. Thanks for any input guys. Quote

You have to read the plugs and yes 4180 ft is olot of change!!!! Quote
Twistedtrik Posted February 23, 2008 Author Report Posted February 23, 2008 You have to read the plugs and yes 4180 ft is olot of change!!!! I have to wait until I get it reassembled before I can do that. I was trying to get a little better idea so I can change the jets now while it is apart. I do know the plugs I pulled out were pretty black and crusty. I will just put it back together and see what happens. Quote
Twistedtrik Posted March 6, 2008 Author Report Posted March 6, 2008 Okay, so boots are replaced, bottle is gone. I forgot to mention that the Pro Flow is out in the wide open, only the front of the box remains. It runs like a striped assed ape and has no lack of power. I am going to check the plugs today after I ride 1 more time but 350 mains still seem too big. I am mixing midgrade 32:1 with Klotz Super Techniplate. 1 thing I have noticed after putting in the adj. timing plate is it has a tendency to hesitate just off of idle. I lined the +4 mark with the split in the case. Is this correct? Quote
dekker Posted March 6, 2008 Report Posted March 6, 2008 Yes you lined up the timing plate right...... 350 would seem fat to me but read your plugs Quote
Twistedtrik Posted March 6, 2008 Author Report Posted March 6, 2008 (edited) Cool, thank You. I will check them today and see what they look like. Edited March 6, 2008 by Twistedtrik Quote
lincster Posted March 6, 2008 Report Posted March 6, 2008 Nothing wrong with the 350 mains, sounds like the guy you bought it from knew what he was doing. I run 370 mains for Gordons and my bike runs great and plugs look good. Quote
Twistedtrik Posted March 6, 2008 Author Report Posted March 6, 2008 I bought it from a guy in Surprise and he said he has been building Shees for yrs. Had 6 just before i bought mine so he seems on the up and up. Said he ran the 350s in the Valley area and at Gordons/Patton. If it's a little rich here, I don't care. I just don't want it lean in Yuma. Quote
Twistedtrik Posted March 6, 2008 Author Report Posted March 6, 2008 Heres the plugs. seem to bee pretty good to me. Quote
Twistedtrik Posted March 7, 2008 Author Report Posted March 7, 2008 So do these plugs look right or not? They seem just right to me, but I want some opinions. Thanks. Quote
rubberneck Posted March 8, 2008 Report Posted March 8, 2008 Kind of hard to tell from the pic, how old are those plugs? The best way to do it would be to do a plug chop on a set of new plugs. You should have a 2mm wide chocolate brown stripe at the base of the porcelain. On another note, something you may want to think about since you advanced timing. I would start running premium, not midgrade fuel. I just lost a rod in my bike. On the good side, the piston was showing some signs of detonation. I had a little pitting near the exhaust port. I had been running +5 timing mixing 40:1 with redline and running 92 octane with stock head 125psi compression. I dont know if this contributed to my lost rod bearing, but it could of. So i say go premium. I am going to back the timing off to +3 on my other bike just to be safe, may even start mixing in a little race fuel. just my .02 Quote

Brown is your friend. Don't be afraid of a big number jet. Some engines just ask for more jet. I used to have to run 410 mains in a ported 350 with pro circuit pipes. K@N in the box lid off. Every engine will be a little different. Quote
