The paint works ok. I had a buddy who did it, and there is a lot of prep work involved. I do all trail riding, so my pipes always look real nasty, real quick. The last couple sets of pipes I had, I sent out to get high temp powder coat. Works really good, holds up really well, and doesnt chip or flake. http://www.loudins.com/ is the dude I use. He's been doin my stuff since I was into Toyta trucks back when. Here's a pic of the PT mids I had done, and a set of FMFs

I was going to paint my pipes in high temp header paint then got put onto a guy in my area that does ceramic coating, so I'm taking the pipes over to him to do, I' up pics when they're done supposed to look pretty trick

PJ1 makes a high temp exhaust paint in a can. I don't think it matters what kind of paint you buy, sooner or later, down by the cylinders, it's gonna need to be redone. You could probably get it to last a year or so...depending on how much you ride, but...it's just not going to be as durable as a ceramic coat, chrome...etc.
