gregrob Posted February 16, 2008 Report Posted February 16, 2008 Just looking for opinions here. Let's say I ride 30% sand 30% trails / woods and 40% open areas, playing, drag racing, etc. In the sand, my favorite thing to do though is hill climb, so I wouldn't mind a little help there, and keeping the front down a little easier on drags would be nice too. Give me an edge over my buddies. What would you guys go with? I don't want to screw up my ability to jump, broad slide corners wide open, do donuts, etc, etc. I'm thinking +2 to maybe just give me a little help on the hill shoots, but keep the bike very usable, or maybe I can do that with a +4 and not really sacrifice anything else? I've talked to Jared about this and he said +4 is the most I should go, just looking for opinions from those who have ran +2, or maybe both. Thanks Greg Quote
rusty1100 Posted February 16, 2008 Report Posted February 16, 2008 I have +6 on mine, which makes hill climbing extermely easy, but if you plan on doing a lot of jumping I think that +4 would be fine. Mine still jumps okay but not nearly as good as my 1st shee with no +. As far as donuts and sliding it is way easier, no turning over or almosts. I doubt +2 would make that much of a difference, so I say +4 but thats just my opinion. Quote
groomzybanshee Posted February 16, 2008 Report Posted February 16, 2008 (edited) i agree with what he was saying a +4 is what i would get witch i have one on both of my banshee's and i love it my buddy has a +2 and the other day we were climbing hills and he couldnt make it up this hill with is +2 but then i tryd with mine and i went right up it and i dont have trouble keeping the front wheels on the ground in a drag Edited February 16, 2008 by groomzybanshee Quote
sheerider1026 Posted February 16, 2008 Report Posted February 16, 2008 i just pulled a +4 off and installed a +2 today, now both my banshee have +2's .. but i ride mostly trails and hill climb, i think a lot of it has to do with rider weight and tires.. if you are heavier go longer, if you are a small guy don't go so long, the rider weight has more to do with it than you think.. a +2 does fine for my needs, i am selling the +4 if you are interested.. it is a lonestar and is basically brand new, i installed it along with my new cub motor, rode the bike around to break it in, then decided it was too long,, 300 shipped.. a loss for me.. later Quote
Rex789 Posted February 17, 2008 Report Posted February 17, 2008 i duno whether to go with a +2 or a +4 swingarm... i weigh between 125 and 130 lbs so i mite just go with the +2 swingarm. but im going to have a lot of shit done to my shee within the next few months (defenetly agressive dune port and shears, maybe a +4 mil stroker build as well) so i duno if i should go with a +4 to be on the safer side; but at the same time i dont think having a +4 swingarm will fit my shee in the back of my '05 tacoma... and that would suck Quote
sheerider1026 Posted February 17, 2008 Report Posted February 17, 2008 lol. wel if u wanna talk about power, the bike i took the +4 off of and instaleed the +2 has a cub motor on it.. so wheelies wil be no problem for me!! lol hell it will be fun. Quote
Rex789 Posted February 17, 2008 Report Posted February 17, 2008 haha thats whats up, but i weigh between 125 and 130 so u think if i do all that shit to my bike and put a +2 swinger on it, it'll throw me around? or u think ill just have fun all over the place with it? im afraid to go +4 cuz the bed in my truck is 5 foot n i have to leave the tailgate down already just for my shee to fit; i think i can make it with a +2 but not a +4 Quote
sheerider1026 Posted February 17, 2008 Report Posted February 17, 2008 well i weigh 200. and the plus 4 was too much, no traction, the plus 2 is just right, i can control my bike a lot better, get good traction, and do wheelies when i want.. some people go - on there arms. so a plus 2 is a good all around size arm.. i trail ride mosrtly, but i do love to do the occasional drag race and hill climbs and the +2 serves me well. but if u want a +4 i have one for sale Quote
wacko2000 Posted February 17, 2008 Report Posted February 17, 2008 I have a +2 on my shee and I love it..I ride trails and some hills and what not and its perfect, +4 would have been to long for me.. It really helps keep the front end down also, I went up in the front sprocket also, so that help me at the same time... I have a titan, my bed is only 5.5 and I have put my shee in there no prob with the tailgate down... You wont have a prob with your truck, that shouldnt be a prob.. Quote
Rex789 Posted February 17, 2008 Report Posted February 17, 2008 alrite cool, i figured the +4 swingarm would be too much for my bike and my truck bed, so im going to go with the +2 swingarm. im running a 42 rear sproket gearing and stock front sproket: would i have to get a new longer chain then with the +2 swingarm? i like cascade's swingarm so im going to get one of those, but im real pumped to turn my machine into a real badass mother fucker, so i want to do everything right and the bolt ons just dont cut it for me. I'm going with the +4 mil stroker build and an agressive dune port with shear pipes. for new carbs do you guys think i should go with the 28mm PWK, 30 PWK (if they make them) or the 33 PWK? I've been searching a lot and found that the majority of everyone says the 35mm PWK carbs r too big, and i want to keep my bottom end power but dont want to lose my top end. im going to work my ass off for the next few months for the money and put everything together, since im new to porting and all, i would appreciate any comments or suugestions from all you experienced pros that have all been there, done that with all this shit. I'm going to advance my timing to +4 so i can still run on pump gas too, as well as install a dial-a-jet on my new carbs. Quote
sheerider1026 Posted February 17, 2008 Report Posted February 17, 2008 hey man, hook up with cfm on here. he builds swingarms, i just got one from him, they are built well and have a lifetime warranty. i would go with the roundhousing desgin, much much better setup.. and if u get a bare swinger i can powdercoat it for you.
