the threads on my flywheel is rusty and I cannot thread the puller on it. This is the 3rd puller I got. Two I stripped on my last flywheel, (which the shop had to drill and pull off!) Now with the newer one, the threads are all rusted up again! Any ideas how to clean them so I dont strip the tool again?

common problem. go to the hardware store buy some wd 40 and a small wire brush the size of a toothbrush. spray up the threads, jam the wire brush in at an angle and keep turning it by hand until the threads are clean enough to screw the puller in about 6 or 7 threads deep.if that don`t work get someone to weld the puller on the flywheel, the proceed to order a new puller and flywheel.

You mean like a 2 or 3 jaw puller? if so i wouldnt run the flywheel after that! uneven pressure breaks the magnets inside, and distorts the shape of the flywheel. Its a cheap part that can ruin some expensive ones. do yourself a favor and find a new one, and put some paint or something on the threads to prevent the rust. There are some flywheels on ebay, check em out.

I had a start of that problem. New flywheel has some scaley white crorosion. I took a wire brush to it to clean it all up. I figured I would shoots a little paint on it to keep it from rusting. The paint didnt stick a got balled up around the pickup coil. My banshee kept running like it was a jetting problem. So I was going to put my original stator back on and take the ricky stator off and I found the problem.

maybe you needa a new rybber gasket for the case side . i would get one of them and just barly skim alittle bit of antisezie on the threads try to rub it in with your finger. that might help nex time with the threads.

mine is rustier than a dogs ass..... 5 years of teenage ungrateful riding. now im broke in my own plac with nothing left but a fucked banshee. and its my own fault. hahahahahha

better off than others i guess. i say put some GREASE on those threads since it will displace the water! or antiseize.
