sinisterboo Posted January 18, 2008 Report Posted January 18, 2008 well, as we know i killed one of my .080 over jugs recently, so i bought a used right side and a .100 over vito's piston kit. I know my bikes gonna need a little help in the cooling department. My plan is a finned inline cooler, and some "engine ice" in the coolant. will this work? or am i over engineering stuff again? Quote
gumby6t9 Posted January 18, 2008 Report Posted January 18, 2008 Straight engine ice and skip the inline cooler. Maybe a pro design impeller if you got the $$$ Quote
yamaha04 Posted January 19, 2008 Report Posted January 19, 2008 yeah you defiantly dont mix water and engine ice its ment to be used by itself 100% engine ice. but if you keep overheating there is something worng? Quote
jmd0346 Posted January 19, 2008 Report Posted January 19, 2008 Some cooling mods arent gonna do that much for .100 over jugs. You have like a 1/16th or less cylinder wall left. Get them resleeved. Quote
sinisterboo Posted January 19, 2008 Author Report Posted January 19, 2008 for what it cost to get sleeves installed and another set of stock sized pistons in my non ported jugs i would be 200 bucks shy of a cub kit. im just runnin these while i set back some cheese. Quote
bansheeman1988 Posted January 19, 2008 Report Posted January 19, 2008 Use that engine ice, proflow impeller and if you really need more cooling, buy a coolhead. Quote

It takes alot more to running a cub than buying the jugs. Id get it sleeved but thats just my opinion because thats what i did. I had mine .100 over at one time. It didnt last very long and i had a pro-flow impeller and a Toomey radiator. Mine was out of round because of being bored so many times. Also the thin sleeve that is left can distort from the heat. It caused me to break a piston skirt. Got metal down in the crank so it cost me a crank as well. Quote
sinisterboo Posted January 19, 2008 Author Report Posted January 19, 2008 what do you mean it take more to run a cub? I have a hot-rods crank, cpi inframes, duncan powerhead (coolhead copy) ect. ect. i have been reading and asking questions about the cub stuff for about 3 months now. I'm not just a dude with money jumping in not knowing. Im a dude saving up money to buy what i have been researching forever! Quote
fastrthnu Posted January 19, 2008 Report Posted January 19, 2008 Ive been running .1 over pistons, and Ive ran it just a hair rich on the main, stock rad, billet impeller, and straight engine ice, and have had not problems. I think those tiny inline coolers are a bunch of BS. I also have a noss head making 157 lbs, and +5 degree timing. Quote

Hard to get it sometimes from text. Good clutch, tires, swingarm etc would be good too. If these cubs are as bad as they claim. LOL. Ive been thinking of going Cub myself just not sure yet if thats really what i want. I dont want a drag only bike. My setup is pushing it for trail riding. Anymore its gonna be tough to trail it. Its a good combo of a dangerous trail bike and a good dragger. Thats why i suggested resleeving and a good port job. A good ported 350 is one bad mother. It all comes down to prefference and what you are gonna do with it. For your situation Id definitely run the .100's untill you get the jack for the cubs. In my experience they just dont last long punched out that far. Good luck. Let us know when you get the cubs! Quote
sinisterboo Posted January 20, 2008 Author Report Posted January 20, 2008 I'm with you on that. I want to be able to ride varuous types of areas without changing my bike arond alot. I ride probably 40% woods and 60% dunes. I am also researching the RZ conversion. Maybe i just need to buy a 2nd banshee! LOL Quote
