I had a problem a while back with the right cylinder not firing and I finally found my problem. After deciding to bite the bullet and pull my engine down for some other repairs that didn't have anything to do with the pistons; I decided to check em out and guess what I found...

Whole exhaust side of the piston was gone and the inlet side was pretty messed up... I should have checked all that a long time ago. Moral of the story: Follow your gut instincts

When you re-assemble your top end be sure to check your piston to cylinder clearance. Looks like it might have been piston slap that broke your pistons. Especially since it did it front and back. Too much clearance and it lets the piston rock back and forth in the cylinder. Higher RPM's make short work of a rocking piston.

I assume it took the bottom end with it? There is no way you are lucky enough to get all those pieces out the exhaust.

No damage to cylinders and engine turns smooth as by hand, I have the motor pretty much apart at the moment. Splitting the crank casing tommorow but yeh weird thing is I can't find any of the pieces and the con rods are free, guess I was just lucky ay.
