keeks707 Posted December 10, 2007 Report Posted December 10, 2007 i was reading up on this crank(trued & welded) ..i really dont know what that means! Also do u recommend that or buy a whole new crank? Quote
jbooker82 Posted December 10, 2007 Report Posted December 10, 2007 (edited) They make sure the crank is still in phase. When one piston is at top dead center the other is at bottom dead center. The crank is just pressed together so it can twist a little and get out of phase. So they true it up and then weld the crank pins to the webs so it cant slip out of phase. josh Edited December 10, 2007 by jbooker82 Quote
bigdaddy69 Posted December 10, 2007 Report Posted December 10, 2007 Trueing and welding the crank is not something you have to do. Although it is very cheap insurance. Having someone weld your crank keeps the crank from seperating as was previously said. The more mods you do to the motor the more I would reccomend having it done. Quote
badassbanshee479 Posted December 10, 2007 Report Posted December 10, 2007 my buddys completely stock 05 had a crank twist and it toasted the top end!! for the money it costs, its cheap insurance! Especially when you start cranking up the compression and hp! Quote
2strokespirit Posted December 10, 2007 Report Posted December 10, 2007 If your stock one is still in good shape, you don't need to buy a new one, just get the stocker trued and welded. Quote
