qboronyrican Posted December 6, 2007 Report Posted December 6, 2007 i just finish putting on my cool head and got about 159-161 psi on each cylinder so all is good but was wondering what octane gas i should use...was thinking 50/50 and i have a chance to get 110 octance for the same price as 100 octane but don't know if it will be overkill or hurt the motor in any way????? and if its ok then what pump gas octane should i use???? rubberneck Posted December 6, 2007 Report Posted December 6, 2007 If its the same price as the 100, then I'd get the 110. Not aware of any problems related to more octane, but too little octane will ruin your day in a hurry. I say get the 110. From what I understand, around 150 is the limit for pump gas, so you may be able to mix 50:50 or even less maybe 2gall. race to 3 gall pump. Others will chime in for sure. Quote
blowit Posted December 6, 2007 Report Posted December 6, 2007 92oct will do you fine if you want to run it. Otherwise, I would buy the 100. Brandon Quote
badassbanshee479 Posted December 6, 2007 Report Posted December 6, 2007 you can lose performance if you run a real high octane and you do not need it. The higher the octane rating, the slower it burns to prevent detonation. I would run at least a 50/50 mix in anything over 160 psi. Why risk it when gas is much cheaper than pistons! I think I would just run the 100 oct. But there is nothing wrong with mixing 50/50 race gas pump gas. I think I would mix 93 with the 110 though. Quote
Cory9584 Posted December 8, 2007 Report Posted December 8, 2007 Im the turbo car world one way to raise octane is to add either some tolulene or xylene available at any home depot. Do any of you guys do this? btw whats compression supposed to be on a completely stock engine? Quote

06BaNsHeE Posted December 8, 2007 Report Posted December 8, 2007 Just run 100 Octane and thats it.I would rather run 100oct then mix 110 with 93.Easier and less of a headache for me.I guess Im just to lazy tho Quote
Washburn Posted December 8, 2007 Report Posted December 8, 2007 Im rite at 160psi each cyl with 20cc domes and +4 timing and Im fine with 93. I am going to be advancing my timing some more next time I get to it cause advanced timing is balls out great for the Banshee motor. I have 3 5 gal gas tanks 1 will be 93 1 will be VP 110 and the last will be for mixing the two. Quote

You may be able to push timing just a bit more with 93 but honestly, I doubt the extra 1.5 will be worth the fuel expense. I would look into other mods before flipping to race fuels. We generally push for race fuels but sometimes, convenience is king. Brandon Quote
samc Posted December 9, 2007 Report Posted December 9, 2007 id say run 110-93 mix with maxima 927 oil thats what i run in my shee, what my builder told me to run in my new engine atleast he said my compression should be around 155-160psi but its hard to get a good reading with these bikes because there kickstart or something Quote
