blowit Posted December 1, 2007 Report Posted December 1, 2007 the fly wheel or clutch basket hasnt been touched. ever. well i give it some gas. maybe half throttle in nuetural(sp) and she will just go WOT.. hit the kill switch. pump the gas a few times and start her up and shes idleing away fine. touch the gas a to about half throttle again and WOT. how is it a frayed cable? when she goes WOT the sliders and back down to where there suppose to be at idle. but im going to try it again today. and if it happens off to yamaha for a new cable i go. oh trust me it is haha. ive made that mistake before. If you are sure your slides are synced and not hanging up when you drop the throttle, it is an air leak and probably a big one. Use propane gas without flame to run around the engine and detect an air leak. Sounds like a crank seal or case half leak. You can easily check the throttle cable for damage. Like I say, if you have a tuner you can take it to, they would probably spot it quickly. Lean run-on is an obvious sound. Brandon Quote

Turn your air screws in to .25 out from seated. Possibly just lean on the bottom but that is a stretch for this problem. Brandon Quote
Aussie Quad Racer Posted December 1, 2007 Report Posted December 1, 2007 old vm mikuni carbs with teflon coated slides commonly partially stick when cold or wet, thats why yamaha put tors on, the old rd350 road bike had problem with this in the rain when they got older, your solutions to the problem is 1 refit the tors, (its a brilliant saftey device that just might save your ass one day) 2 polish the inside of the carb where the slide runs with metal polish (seamed to work for me) 3 find some chrome slides (good luck) Quote
