wiecha17 Posted October 29, 2007 Report Posted October 29, 2007 ok im just about to do a compression test to my shee tonight .. but im just wondering if not having the pipes or carbs will affect an accurate reading ?? and should the psi be up around 110 for a shee ?? ( its a stock 03 engine ??) any advice will be a huge help -scott Quote
Snopczynski Posted October 29, 2007 Report Posted October 29, 2007 work ok without pipes and carbs. Whats your elevation? Quote
wiecha17 Posted October 29, 2007 Author Report Posted October 29, 2007 ok i just came back in i have 90 psi in each cylinder .. ok is this decent amount of compression ? or should i go get a new set of cylinders and rings? ( i have one more race on November 16/17 ) should i run this last race and then go for a re build ? Quote
black sunshine Posted October 29, 2007 Report Posted October 29, 2007 You kicking 'til the gauge no longer climbs? May be worth cross referencing with another tester. Mine read that last year and I had it bored and a new piston only to find out my buddies Matco Tester was faulty Quote

black sunshine Posted October 29, 2007 Report Posted October 29, 2007 ain`t that a kick in the nuts! how did it run? i woulda went by the seat of the pants compression test. Well the tester read 90 in both cyls., but it started on the first kick all the time!!!! Was having some issues with it falling off the pipe all the time.... probably was just jetting or some bad gas. Sent it to Jeff@FAST, runs lots better now Sorry to stomp your post, WEICHA17 !!!!!!!!!!!111 Quote
wiecha17 Posted October 30, 2007 Author Report Posted October 30, 2007 ok i just tried a buddies tester to and came out with 93 psi roughly in each cylinder.. so so im sitting in the 90 range .. so this winter i got about 1000 to spend on the shee ( i have trinity pipes K&N fliters. axle a arms lowering kit .). i have it exactly how i want it to handle ( but i am getting a sway bar to ) so what to do now what the most power i can get for a grand ?? i need name of product and how much it cost and where to find it .. thanks a lot guys -scott and ps its I before E Quote
Snopczynski Posted October 30, 2007 Report Posted October 30, 2007 Hello?????? compression is directly affected by elevation. So what is your elevation? Quote
dalegoldston Posted October 30, 2007 Report Posted October 30, 2007 I will help him out.246 feet above, Ontario, Canada or there about. Quote
black sunshine Posted October 30, 2007 Report Posted October 30, 2007 Bore, hone, pistons, may as well have it ported to suit your needs... weld the crank so you can raise the compression. VF3's and a timing plate. That will make quick work of a grand!!!!!!! (You may have to work a little O.T.) Quote
wiecha17 Posted October 30, 2007 Author Report Posted October 30, 2007 ya its 246 feet so is this still low compression even at this elevation? Quote
black sunshine Posted October 30, 2007 Report Posted October 30, 2007 Yep. Lower elevation=higher compression Quote
Snopczynski Posted October 30, 2007 Report Posted October 30, 2007 Yeah, sounds like something is wrong, thats to low for that elevation. Quote
wiecha17 Posted October 30, 2007 Author Report Posted October 30, 2007 what should normal compress be for a shee at my level ? and what are some basic mods that i should get this winter ( engine wise )?? Quote
