BravoZulu Posted October 16, 2007 Report Posted October 16, 2007 After a few runs on some bowls in Glamis, CA last weekend I noticed a loud grinding noise (metal-to-metal) developing in the engine. Shut down the engine, started in normal the noise continued as soon as I pulled clutch lever in the noise would fade away. Only when the clutch lever was release the grinding noise would be heard. I was 6-miles from camp and was able to return on my own power over the sand dunes on all gears. Anyone knows what I screwed up? May be the clutch plates broke loose? Please advice. Thanks.... Quote

chevy7398 Posted October 16, 2007 Report Posted October 16, 2007 mine has always done it also, never have figured it out, sure would be nice to know, one thought i had had was maybe the kickstarter idler gear bushing is getting wore out and its making that nosie casue the teeth arnt perfectly aligned with the gear on the clutch basket but ive never changed it so i really have no idea but thats my theory Quote
BravoZulu Posted October 17, 2007 Author Report Posted October 17, 2007 The problem seems more like a clutch issues. Never had any problems with grinding sounds before. Quote
