I just bought a 98 banshee and it smokes real bad out of the right side exhaust. It idles fine and has plenty of power. And also the pipe that smokes blows out cooler exhaust. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer. :shoothead:

Have you checked your carb sync I know my smoked bad out one pipe and it ended up being the carbs weren't synced. I dunno just an idea. Does the exhaust smell sweet?...

mine did this right before it needed a new top end, the one cylinder had decent compression and would run regular, the other had bad compression and would smoke, so try testing the compression. although mine ran ok i could tell that i was loosing power but it still would idle fine

could be the seal leaking tranny fluid into the bottom end.

yeah, your crank seal is leaking. more smoke from the right side doesn't lie...

its not hard, but you will have to split the cases. wich means that you have to take every piece of your engine appart.

here's a good writeup on it by bigred350x http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?...c=56926&hl=

have fun!

Thanks man, The writeup is great i,m a picture person so that really will help. Well I guess I should get started I bought the weisco crank seals yesterday so let the show begin LOL..I will let you know the out come.

Hell Ya, The job is done so I thought! I changed the crank seals no problem thanks to you guys here. Shee runs great but still the right side exhaust blows cold air until I ride for a few minutes tried switching plug wires to see if the other side was effected by it . no luck, switched spark plugs no luck. only thing I can think of is that the rings are bad but the pistons are only 2 months old crazy. At least the smoke problem is solved. thanks everyone for your help your awesome

It sounds like a carb sync adjustment and everything will be fine.
Its a totally stock bike for now. Whats the best way to approach the carb sync. Sorry for all the questions but i,m a newbie to this.

Pull off the airfilter and eyeball the slides and they should go up and down at the same time.If they dont then you need to adjust the slides. The manual tells you how to sync them.Or you can buy a sync tool from Jeff at FAST.

If I eyeball the slides. how do I adjust if one is out of sync?
