fitz18 Posted October 11, 2007 Report Posted October 11, 2007 Hey people, im in the middle of a complete rebuild of my shee and have just taken the clutch plates off there tonight. Anyhow from what i understand there should be fiber plate then steel plate then fiber plate and so on is this correct?? I have just taken my plates off and there are only steel plates...no fiber ones Is this normal? Do people remove them for some reason? Thanks you guys Quote
NYUK Posted October 11, 2007 Report Posted October 11, 2007 not normal. that means your clutch is fried. all fibers burned off. Quote
Snopczynski Posted October 11, 2007 Report Posted October 11, 2007 How many plates did you take out? Quote
fitz18 Posted October 11, 2007 Author Report Posted October 11, 2007 not normal. that means your clutch is fried. all fibers burned off. Maybe im worng but should the plates i took out not have signes of burning and be black in that case?? None of the plates i took out are look burned or anything. They are in good condition. Its got me stumped!! Quote
theshee Posted October 11, 2007 Report Posted October 11, 2007 Snopczynski beat me to it.. but how many did you take out? If they were all the small steels you would have had no clutch at all... Quote
fitz18 Posted October 11, 2007 Author Report Posted October 11, 2007 How many plates did you take out? Just 6 Quote
Snopczynski Posted October 11, 2007 Report Posted October 11, 2007 Holy shit, he did just have the steels in there? How did the clutch work in that thing? Quote
fitz18 Posted October 11, 2007 Author Report Posted October 11, 2007 Holy shit, he did just have the steels in there? How did the clutch work in that thing? The clutch wasnt even my problem. It was always fine. Didnt even slip or anything. I just blew the left piston so im stripping her down to start from scratch. You guys think the guy i bought it off had them removed or anything?? spike Posted October 11, 2007 Report Posted October 11, 2007 that is one off the weirdest snags I've heard, does not make any sense. can you get us a picture of what those 6 plates looks like? I'm really curious to know how its even moved like that. Quote
theshee Posted October 11, 2007 Report Posted October 11, 2007 hmmmm..... something does seem right here. There is no way there could only be 6 very thin steel plates in there and the bike still move. Quote
ZR2Freak Posted October 11, 2007 Report Posted October 11, 2007 Yes definitely get us some pics..... Ive seen burnt steel's and fried fiber plates that are completely smooth...but to have no fibers at all.. Well jiminey-crickets i just dont know  Quote
yamaperv Posted October 11, 2007 Report Posted October 11, 2007 I would definatley like to see that as well, this doesn't make sense at all a picture will hopefully clear this up. Quote
theshee Posted October 11, 2007 Report Posted October 11, 2007 If there were only six steels, there would be nearly and inch of nothing but open space between the inner, and outer hubs, with some steels floating around in there. Doesnt make sense. Get some pics up please. Quote
