I dont know if anyone ever got an answer but I have a stock stroke 68mm bore ill be putting together this weekend.

I got everything from Jeff. The pistons came from Trinity. From what I understand wiseco didnt make any pistons for the 68x54 unless it was a long rod. This pistons were also a little more expensive than your run of the mill wiseco piston.

If you want more info on this combo I can let you know after this weekend. 1966 Nova has the exact same setup but his is running at the moment so he can tell you now.

Heres my list.

68x54 cub

Noss head 19cc domes

true/weld crank

35 pwk w/pods

pingle

shearer in frames

vf3 reeds

timing +7

110 gas

+6 swingarm

Fast clutch

pancake

max load bearing

some other misc stuff.

I got everything from Jeff at Farm and sand toys except for the pipes. He had it all in stock.

If you want to switch to a stock stroke cub you are looking at $2500-3000 for everything you need. From the engine to the swing arm. Thats without a lock up or over ride. Im sure some people have done it for less but that is about the average price if you are starting with nothing.

wsm makes b.b. banshee pistons, some are lasting others are shitcanning the intake bridges.

i would call up builder and tell them where you want the power and how you want it. what type of riding you do.

one play dune port might not be the same as anothers you will have to talk to them what you want.

I have a stock stroke 68mm bore cub. Don't make fun of me, but its with stock carbs and T5's! I know it doesn't have all the power it should have, yes it is capable of draining the carbs, and yes I need a swinger (still stock). But the thing absolutely rips. I can't get enough of the light switch power of the cub. I love it for some good hillclimbing (lots of clutch and up over the bars to keep the front end down) and with liberal use of the clutch it will run trails nicely.

I plan on switching pipes on it this winter and adding a swingarm and some 34mm Mikuni TM flatslides. Probably get oversized bowls for the carbs also. All that I got initially was the cylinder, pistons, and big bore domes. I just didn't have the money for everything at once, I blew up in the middle of the season, and decided I wanted the cub.

By the way I dune, some trail riding, and lots of hillclimbs but ask BigRed350x this thing will rip up the hills just as well as duning and dragging. Had it out at Sand mountain last weekend and it was insane.

Geez I leave for one night and my topic gains about 30 posts

I have been talking to Jeff a bit, deciding that cubs aren't the best choice for me. So i've decided that I will send my stock jugs away to get done..the thing is I want a really hard pulling, kick ass play/dune port...cause im bored with my bike right now, lol. Soo fellas, I know there are a few builders out there like Jeff, Kevin, "Rocketboy", and R&B Racing. Is turn around time fairly good right now being as it is getting to fall/winter?

I would really like to hear from everyone that has had a play/dune port done, by any builder, thanks!!

Only one way to find out...call them, and have them commit to a time if you need them in a certain time frame.

If they don't meet that deadline, make sure they are 100% clear you'll want your cylinders shipped back...

I don't think Dinner is looking to go to the drag strip, he needs a good strong dune port and he'll be rippin' it up...

agreed Dave.....

michigan has some of the best in the buisness as far as porting goes.

and its getting to the end of our season and many of our builders are slowing down some.

like i said dan @a&s is a pain in the ass to get ahold of but does awesome work,RDZ,RB racing, tyson racing....all good builders in the michigan area also

just some ideas.

Dan is probably building something BIG for the AVI race in November out west, he put up a post on PS about put up or shut up, pretty much saying he's tired of hearing what other builders should run or are gonna run...bring it to AVI.

I'd be surprised if Rob @ RDZ wasn't building something for that race as well....

There are a lot of big builders out there, but just because our season is coming to an end...California (dunes, Glamis, etc.) is just starting to come alive. Hell...they have more riders on Halloween and Thanksgiving than anyone would be my guess...it's a Scene...

As said...I'd pick up the phone, see who answers, who calls you back...and get a feel for them.

There are a lot of guys that do good porting, but I'd hate to see you send your cylinders off and 8 to 10 months later still not have them back...

supposedly last year for halloween weekend there was over 100,00 people in glamis. Thanksgiving was even more then that. But thats just word floating around, i havent seen any actual numbers from the rangers confirming this

I've got one of Jeff's dune ports with 4mill crank and its deffinately a blast to ride.

I had CPIs on it and switched over to shearers and it seems to just run better with

the shearers. Even though everybody here says the shearers have no bottom or

midrange, IMO my bike has just enough of that and a nice kick ass top end.

Its a fuckin handfull in trails tho and I wouldnt reccomend it for anything technical.

I agree Dave, thank you.....and i care about your times

I don't run drag or anything like that...mostly cause well no where around me would do that legally, lol and I love to ride roads, fields and hills!

Thanks for all those names good sir. I will be starting to look around some more the next little while and see how things go. And it would be kinda better for me to send away to Michigan being as you fellas are close to me.

Yea I don't really do too much trails anymore, and even if i do go trail riding..they arn't like hard core twists and what not.

What do dune/play ports go for roughly, I'm guessing 300ish? (just wondering, lol ill obviously get a better idea once i start calling around)

Mmm I think I may go stock jugs with a good port right now. To be honest I really didn't think much of the extra parts that you should run with the cubs. I don't really have the money right now to afford all of that, lol. I also have to pay for truck mods as well, so the cubs can wait, lol.

Thanks for builder though
