202banshee Posted October 1, 2007 Report Posted October 1, 2007 Have done some searching and have a lil info on subject. Just before I bought the bike it had clutches put in it. It will drag pretty bad. Well I finally got the other probs fixed and got it running right. So havent had much testing time. It will fire up in gear but it jumps a lil. Also at times you gotta keep it revved a bit to keep it running in gear. I do have my idle pretty low. The other day on the one and only shake down run it seemed to wanna die more when I would stop in gear clutch pulled then usual but could have been the tight trail riding I was doing. From what I have read the dragging is very common. But I still took the side cover off and set it with the arrows and the clutch lever. Havent tried it yet. But I noticed that when I pull in the clutch lever the pressure plate backs of more on one side then the other. was wondering if this was anything to be extremely worried about. Also bought Yamalube 4 10w30 to put back in but now am reading that most of you run thicker oil. You think the 10w30 being thinner may help the dragging a little ????? Wanting to spend as little as possible about ready to trade her off. LOL Quote

LOL i read what you wrote 4 times and i dont whats exactly happening. i`m a little drunk but the one and only shake down run part lost me. i`m not sure what that is. if you can start your shee and it idles your idle is good. as for the clutch, when my shee is cold the clutch dont work like as if its warm. 10w 30 i dont know anyone that runs that in a shee. my friends and myself use Belray 80W. 202banshee Posted October 1, 2007 Author Report Posted October 1, 2007 LOL shake down run = I bought it not running and got it running and the shake down was first time taking it out Quote
dekker Posted October 1, 2007 Report Posted October 1, 2007 Grooves in the clutch basket can also cause dragging. Look where your fibers contact the basket and see how badly its grooved. Quote
202banshee Posted October 2, 2007 Author Report Posted October 2, 2007 Dont see any noticable grooves in basket. As long as I am looking in right spot.LOL Can it be seen without dissasembly of basket ??? Like were you can see the discs stacked ??? Also is the uneven pull of the pressure plate common ?????? FasterThanU90 Posted October 2, 2007 Report Posted October 2, 2007 yes its on the edges of the basket. Your steel plates could be warped causing the drag and uneven dissengage Quote
