page454 Posted September 24, 2007 Report Posted September 24, 2007 On my stock 2001 banshee I just bought new DID chain and sprocket set, stock gearing, and tightened the chain to around 3/4" with the suspension compressed as much as possible, but when the suspension is not compressed, (me not on the quad), it has around 1 1/4" slack in the center of the chain. Does this sound right? I thought there should be a bit more and chains are not cheap. Thanks in advance. Quote
okbeast Posted September 24, 2007 Report Posted September 24, 2007 Doesn't really matter how much slack there is when you're not on it. Only thing that hurts them is being stretched too tight while a load is on the bike. Quote
Justintoxicated Posted September 24, 2007 Report Posted September 24, 2007 I usualy aim for 1.5 inches, but your chain will stretch a little if it is new. Quote
FasterThanU90 Posted September 26, 2007 Report Posted September 26, 2007 chains dont stretch. it should sag on the top guide Quote
chevrolet banshee Posted September 26, 2007 Report Posted September 26, 2007 i like about 2" of slack wen i am not sitting on it and wen i sit on it it tintes to about 1 1/2 most the time anyway Quote
fishwater Posted September 27, 2007 Report Posted September 27, 2007 So is the proper way to sit on the bike & check adjustment? The manual lists a static check instead of compressed suspension? Quote
