shee4speed Posted September 24, 2007 Report Posted September 24, 2007 I am installing my noss head and it says thread sealer is a good idea. WTF is thread sealer? Thanks. Quote
ClimbAnyHill Posted September 24, 2007 Report Posted September 24, 2007 Red RTV gasket maker? To prevent leaks thru the threads. Quote

jbooker82 Posted September 25, 2007 Report Posted September 25, 2007 yea , you can use and type of rtv sealer at your local parts store , blue is standard and red is high temp That is Lock tight. RTV isnt a thread sealer. It is just Silicone. The only thing I use on my cool head is teflon tape where the studs screw in to the cylinders. The O rings seal the head up. Quote
shee4speed Posted September 25, 2007 Author Report Posted September 25, 2007 I picked up a tube that said exactly that.(Thread Sealer) at Checker. Quote

With RTV, without, with grease, without, dry...etc. Quote
Justintoxicated Posted September 25, 2007 Report Posted September 25, 2007 I would use high temp thread sealer, just like I put on my Differential drain bolt on my truck... However I have never used thead sealer on my noss head the O-rings seal everythign right up. So much in fact that they smash down and need to be replaced every time. (not all of them just the ones around the studs.). Quote
