400rednEX Posted September 17, 2007 Report Posted September 17, 2007 if the gear is on the inside of the clutch housing, not on the center cases that is your water pump gear. otherwise i don't understand what you're asking. Quote
dragbanshee Posted September 18, 2007 Author Report Posted September 18, 2007 if the gear is on the inside of the clutch housing, not on the center cases that is your water pump gear. otherwise i don't understand what you're asking. the clymers manual calls it starter drive gear, its supposed to be connected to the housing/basket, but mine seperated so i got a pulley today and got that off, now i have another problem. the spacer that the housing rides on is stuck on main shaft, and i have no idea how to get it off. there is no space to get a pully or anything else behinde it or the thrust washer, im not sure if it is supposed to spin freeley on the shaft or not, i think so. HELP! Quote
shee4speed Posted September 18, 2007 Report Posted September 18, 2007 I believe it should spin freely. Quote
Bansh-eman Posted September 18, 2007 Report Posted September 18, 2007 are you talking about the kick starter assembly? is it the shaft where you kick start bolts to and then has the large spring and gear attached? if not snap a pict and post it on www.imageshack.us so you can post it up on here... Bansh-eman Posted September 18, 2007 Report Posted September 18, 2007 so your saing you cant get the spacer that has the grooves in it off the drive shaft? it should just slide off... you should not have to use any tools to get it off... there is a small thin metal plate thats held on by 2 screws. remove the plate and see if maybe the washer and that spacer are stuck together and thats keeping it from sliding off...
