wrx600rr Posted September 16, 2007 Author Report Posted September 16, 2007 well I found a kfx400 on craigslist, it's an 05 all stock and comes with a set of paddles for the back and the sand tires for the front mounted on wheels! Is it a good deal or should I stay away from the kfx ltz models? It is very clean and has only like 5 hours on the machine! Other wise my banshee quest continues! Nick Quote
flattrakker Posted September 16, 2007 Report Posted September 16, 2007 youll be disapointed you didnt get a shee. they are generally nice machines that run forever and they pack a pretty big punch but its a different kind of power as its a 4 stroke. I have a friend that has one and he said its only good for sitting there and looking good. It all depends what your looking for. Most everyone on here will say go fo the shee Quote
wrx600rr Posted September 16, 2007 Author Report Posted September 16, 2007 well I haven't bought it yet! I am supposed to go tomorrow and "buy it" for $2600. The only reason I am kinda leaning towards the 4 stroke is because I know the 2 stroke machines need new top ends every year(s) and I am by no means a 2 stroke mechanic, I am kinda intimidated by the maintanence, not the machine! Also I heard you have to have a pretty deep pocket for the upkeep on the banshee? Nick Quote
wrx600rr Posted September 16, 2007 Author Report Posted September 16, 2007 How about this one for $2800.00? http://chicago.craigslist.org/sox/mcy/421701646.html let me know if it sounds good! Nick Quote
flattrakker Posted September 16, 2007 Report Posted September 16, 2007 the top end deal is WRONG! and you dont need deep pockets as long as you buy the right stuff. My banshee is stock internally.. never been opened up and its almost 12 years old. its a 96 manufactured in 95. The only reason they blow up is usually rider/operator fault. such as not mixing the gas.. using low quality oil and what not. i will admit 2 strokes are a little more sensitive where as 4 strokes are bullet proof. the reason being they are a little more sensitive is because of the rpm range. Nick If the 2stroke engine scares you...stay the hell away from a 4stroke engine, they are more complicated than a 2stroke engine due to cams, valves, timing, timing chain etc. they are also more expensive to rebuild...(in my personal experience). A 2 stroke engine has a the piston head cylinders to put together. Any quad will be expensive to maintain if not maintained right. moneywise you can make a banshee quicker with the same amount of money than a 4stroke. YOu do not have to have deep pockets to own a banshee unless you plan doing a lot of custom work to it. I could be wrong though and you may know how to work on a 4stroke easily compared to a 2stroke..I'm trying not to be-littel you in any way, just making my opinion based on what you said. the one on craigist looks good for the price go look at it. AGREED, my friend just had his warrior rebuilt by a renound builder around here. his tally was close to 900 bucks. to do the same on a 2 stroke would be a 3rd of that.. but then again the banshee does have 2 cylinders.
