banshee problems...

okay so i got my banshee together with new gaskets and plugs, and clean carbs. i clean the carbs really good and put 300 jets in, and set the clip on the 3rd clip. air screw 1 1/2 and it seems to smoke alot (i think its the oil burning out of the cases when i rebuilt i oiled the crank up real good) and like it will run like shit and cut off ill have to hold the throttle in all the way for it to start and it will kinda bog. i was thinking its running 2 rich but idk. what does it sound like to you? ill try getting a video later. maybe to small of a jet?

thats the vid of it smoking alot with the larger jets in the carb (stock 200 jets drilled out.)

So does it have real 300s or guestimate 300s? I don't think I have ever heard of anyone drilling out $3.00 jets!

accual 300 jets, cycle world told me if i drill out the main jet then it will work as a larger jet.

I am not sure that is the best advice..... :ermm: For twenty dollars or so, you can buy a few sets of jets and know exactly what you are installing each time you make a change. I am not trying to give you a hard time, it just doesn't make sense to me.

dude buy a couple of different size jets and do plug chops its the only solution

Sam...

1. Make sure the right carb bowl is on the right carb

2. Make sure the choke tube is between the left and right carb

3. Make sure the slides are in the right carb (cutaway facing the airbox)

4. Unplug all the TORS hardware if you haven't already. The black box under the gas tank, the wires to the carb tops and the wires at the throttle housing and parking break.

I'd bet it's one of these....

PLEASE do not run drilled out jets....tell cycle world to Shut the Fuck Up...literally.

Guys that run alky (Methanol) in their bikes drill the main jets out...and we use micrometers to do that (from .110 to .120 of an inch...)

for number 4 which wires do i disconnect? the ones leading to the top of the carb TORS?

OK...The TORS has a switch in the throttle housing, a switch for each carburetor, and a black box (control unit) that controls the system.

The black box is located above the left cylinder, attached to the frame with one bolt. Make sure the box is not connected to the wire harness. if it is, disconnect it and cover the connection plug on the wire harness end and remove the box from the frame.

If you have big blocks on top of the carburetor caps (I didn't see any in your video), you will see that each one has a wire connected to it. Unplug the wires and cover the connection plugs on the wire harness side.

The throttle housing has a switch in it. I don't remember off the top of my head where the connection is, but you should be able to unplug it somewhere. Just follow the wire from the housing down towards the wire harness. Cover the wire harness end of the connector plug. You can also remove the switch from the throttle housing and cap the hole in the housing if you want to.

That will eliminate the TORS. In your video, it appears that the carburetor switches have been removed and a TORS elimination kit has been installed, so you for sure want to unplug the black box and throttle switch from the wire harness, for they can still cause malfunctions even though the carburetor switches have been removed.

I hope all of that makes sense...
