having a problem shifting past 3rd gear. i think that the shift shaft might be bent. ( do to my crash almost a year ago). i had to replace the actually foot shifter (pedal).

so what im thinking that is somehow the shift shaft got bent also.

what i want to know is it a hard job? whats involoved? i really dont have a manual to go by.

im not sure, but if its the same as my yz was, i had to split the cases to replace it

i really hope not. that doesnt seem like something fun. specially when your new to working on bikes. also having such little time to work on the bike before labor day weekend.

if you order the shaft and a clymer manual you could probbaly get it done by labor day, but that would be close.

worth a shot though, if its like my bike was you dont need to take any of the transmission out, just split the cases and replace the shaft, so its not a horribly involved job

IM pretty sure you dont have to even pull the cases apart, I think you can get it out by just pulling out the clutch and the kickstarter assembly and it pulls all the way thru the whole lower case without seperating the cases. Cant remeber exactly but others should chime in

I just did mine about a month ago. It's a piece of cake, you just have to take the clutch cover off, then pull the clutch basket off, and there it is, it will just pull out of the case then slide the new one in. While you are doing this much you mine as well get the new shift shaft with it modded and a easy spring from Jeff at Fast. Deffinately do that since you are already replacing it.

I was having the same problem. My shaft wasnt bent but the shift fork broke loose. Then somehow my idler gear bushings broke, and that was slapping the clutch basket. But we had to split the cases.

Downndirty, we carry all the parts you will need to fix your shifting woes. It is an easy fix as you just have to remove the clutch cover and basket to replace your bent shift shaft.

Give us a call and i will get you going by Labor day if needed!!!
