ToomeySheeLE Posted August 23, 2007 Report Posted August 23, 2007 Hey guys.. Just looking for some input, after riding around for a while my gearbox seems "sticky" and alot harder to shift than at the start of my ride.. I'm using a modified shift star and it shifts like butter until 15 or so minutes of riding.. I use 80w gearsaver and it only has a few rides on it... any ideas what could cause this? I often shut it down after a while of riding and let it cool for 10 minutes before continuing.. More of an annoyance than anything.. Thanks for any input Brad Quote
shee4speed Posted August 23, 2007 Report Posted August 23, 2007 Clutch working okay?Hand getting tired? Quote
dajogejr Posted August 23, 2007 Report Posted August 23, 2007 Do you have free play when it is cold at the end of your lever... Where the lever meets the perch, you should be able to fit a nickel in between them before the clutch cable starts to grab. If that is adjusted to tight, chances are you're burning up your clutch being out of adjustments and it's not disengaging all the way... Quote
ToomeySheeLE Posted August 23, 2007 Author Report Posted August 23, 2007 My clutch seems to be adjusted good, although i do know my clutch springs are slightly below spec.. perhaps that is the problem. When i put my motor back together I we getting a shorter micrometer reading than what the clymers reccommended for stock springs.. these are tusk heavy duty springs with only one season on them so i shugged my shoulders then slapped it back together... I was sick of ordering little parts to complete my build.. probally shouldn;'t have overlooked them.. Quote

They clymers manual refers to the stock spring height, throw that out the window when you go aftermarket springs. If they're HD springs and a year old, I'm sure they're fine... Quote
