2 questions!

I've got 2 questions:

1) How much would it cost to get a head gasket changed at a shop? (plz specify if ur talkin CAD or US$)

2) Does a K&N air filter work properly if just put in as it comes in the box...like if you dont have the stock white plastic part that you gotta cut up and stuff?

the head gasket is extremely easy to do yourself. they are about 30 bucks, just take the acorn nuts off the head, replace the gasket, and re-torque the heads (step torque) until you reach 25 lbs.

 

If your buying a k&n filter, you need to buy the pro-flow adaptor. nothing is used from the stock filter. The pro-flow adaptor bolts up to the inside and the filter goes on that.

Please change that gasket yourself. It's way too easy to be paying a mechanic to do it for you. The Clymer goes step by step. if you dont have a clymer, order one asap.

I would but i dont have a torque wrench, and i dont feel like running around tryin to look for the right head gasket. :s

and where can i get the pro flow adaptor? i hope it aint too expensive.

get the gasket where ever you would have taken it to be done ( along w/ a clymers book) & spend some of the money saved on a torque wrench & pocket the rest!

oh thats a really good idea dude.but where can i get the K&N pro flow adaptor?

you dont really need an adaptor for the k&n. if your using the airbox lid i think it sits in there the same way as the stock one. not sure on that because the bike came with the filter. if you dont want to run the airbox lid you cane just screw the plastic adaptor to the air box.

edit: and please dont pay a shop to change the head gasket :shoothead:

anywhere call/search around for the best price & time frame ...,its worth it the stockers are prone to let dirt in, bad design, get outer wear at the same time!
