Skithis Posted August 11, 2007 Report Posted August 11, 2007 Today i put my vitos timing key in and prepared for the massive 2.1 horsepower gain. lol, anyways. I fired it up and it ran great. Loaded it on the trailer and towed it about 10 miles to our favorite riding spot. Offloaded and started kicking. No fire. I had a dumb ass attack and forgot to see if the red switch was on. (dont laugh, i know all you have done it) I then flipped the switch to on and gave her a kick and about that time it kinda sounded like a mix between a banshee running, a hammer on sheet metal, and a cannon shot. I instantly knew what it was, sheared that damn keyway in 2 starts. WTF vitos? Not too happy. anyways, It backfired so hard im pretty sure the neighbors called the cops, What about my bearings and seals in the lower half? It seemed to run alright after puting the stock back in but damn. Quote

Get yourself a ricky stator timing plate for $25, much more flexibility and durability. And the 2.1 HP ain't nothing to dawg on. It may only give you 2.1 peak HP, but the real gain is the torque in the mid range, where it takes a larger increase in torque to transfer into HP. For the $25, I don't think you can beat the gain. Quite a few people pay almost 10x that for vForce reeds, with probably somewhere around the same gains. Quote
jbooker82 Posted August 11, 2007 Report Posted August 11, 2007 Just think if you would have gotten the timing plate the first time. You wouldnt be doing this a second time. Quote
