Dgrey Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 (edited) Im stoked I can not wait to put the bike back together. Kevin Herr did the port work http://www.herrjugsracing.com/ He is recommending 350 - 340 -330 main jets - im also installing VF3 reeds and K&N pods instead of the single K&N and I have Toomey T-5's. Oh yeah installing a Noss Head w/ 19 cc domes and advancing timing to +6 should be good times. =) I have all the gaskets and everything that I need (hopefully) for the install. I hate having to run to the motorcycle shop once I start working on something and then they dont have it in stock or I have to drive far to a place that does and its a 2 hour adventure. Banshee0028 Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 Sounds good. Let us know how the porting works out. Also check your compression! It sounds pretty close to needing race fuel. Quote
Dgrey Posted August 10, 2007 Author Report Posted August 10, 2007 hows the porting? Don't know yet =( Sounds good. Let us know how the porting works out. Also check your compression! It sounds pretty close to needing race fuel. He said I should be okay with 100 octane OR 110 mixed with 50% 91 octane which is the premium on the pumps here in San Diego. DAMNIT!!!! I don't have a compression check tool... I have read about it and they recommend getting a quality one. They are like $60 right? Maybe my brother will go in 1/2 with me on one because he needs one to because he is porting soon as well. So when I check the compression i'll be able to tell what type of gas to use? Quote

Well its good to check for more than one reason, but if you dont have one, I would say running straight 110 would be fine for now. You might end up only needing 50/50? I would say over 160 is really a need for race gas. You can get cheaper testers for around $35-40 in an auto store although they may not be as accurate? If it were me and I just rebuilt my engine I would wait until I could check it properly  Quote
adrenaline junky Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 Im pretty much doing the same thing. Mine are being ported by dean sundahl! Amazing top end. Ive ridden a bike with his port job on it. +5 timing, 20 cc domes(pro design cool head, pro-lites, 340 mains, trued and welded crank, v-force 3s, 6in pods, etc. He claims 70 hp on stock carbs. Im so excited for my build up. Good luck on yours! Quote

The only things my bike wont have that your does is a trued and welded crank. Im using 19cc domes through. What type of gas does your builder recommend? Quote
RagunCajun Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 I wouldnt worry about HP numbers. Just make sure you have the power where you want it and youll be happy. That's what i did. Some love drag ported stuff and all but i love my all around bike  Quote
