1966nova Posted August 8, 2007 Report Posted August 8, 2007 i have my 01 banshee and last week was racing some yfz450s i have 20 in tires and advanced timing from 4 to 7 and it seemed like it spun tires worse switching to more advance??? also it has a 15/41 i just ordered some pro wedge 22 for this weekend (so should i leave the 15/41 and plus 7 or lower the timing to+4 and install my 14 tooth because im thinkin the taller 22 tire would act like a 15 tooth????? my mods are fmf fatties, open pods, shaved head, tors removed, timing plate, i was on razzr 2 tires 20 inch last weekend im racing on loose to hard packed dirt drag strip........... please any info im new to banshees thanks greg Quote
locogato11283 Posted August 8, 2007 Report Posted August 8, 2007 what kind of surface are you racing on? pro wedges will expand the faster you go. they will also grab harder. since youre going to a bigger tire size and a better gripping tire youll need to drop your gearing down some. with those 22" tires youll need to run a 14/42 or 14/43 to get back to where you were before. you can try a 14/41 and see if you can get out of the hole ok. if not, youll have to go a little lower.. peak-j Posted August 8, 2007 Report Posted August 8, 2007 I run the 20" tires with 13/41 gearing and I like it. In the sand, 2nd gear I leave the guys I ride with setting at the line. I just got new kenda knarlys, and they hook up awesome. Tires still spin, but find a banshee that won't spin down low, unless running slicks maybe. I also ride some trails and I like the lower gearing a lot better. Hope this helps. Quote
shee rips Posted August 8, 2007 Report Posted August 8, 2007 i would just leave the gearing alone until you get the new tires, then decide from there. Quote
1966nova Posted August 8, 2007 Author Report Posted August 8, 2007 im thinking about timing also it seemed like the +7 hit the tires harder than +4 did??? i think ill try the 14/41 with the 22 pro wedges and maybe the timing back to +4?????? it hooked up good with 14/41 20in razr 2s it just spun alittle so im going to try a 22 pro wedge...im hoping taller tire maybe less spin....but i dont want to bog Quote
