paulnyw Posted August 7, 2007 Report Posted August 7, 2007 hey i just got a 02 it and i have a problem with hard shifting when i am shifting under power most of the time it wont go into a higher gear but if i ride the quad normal as in letting off the gas and pulling the clutch slowly it will shift i ordered a modded shift star from fast today and hope it fixes the problem what do you guys think? anyone have any experiance with this and have any tips? thanks paul Quote
FasterThanU90 Posted August 7, 2007 Report Posted August 7, 2007 check ur clutch its probly the steel plates when they warp the bike is difficult to shift have a manual handy usually the friction plates need to be in a order Quote
400rednEX Posted August 7, 2007 Report Posted August 7, 2007 you might need to adjust the shift shaft so it is evenly spaced at the shift star too. Quote

FasterThanU90 Posted August 7, 2007 Report Posted August 7, 2007 it could be a shift star shift detent problem, which helps the bike go into and stay in gear- but don`t look past ur clutch which could end up causing more damage over time have u noticed any clutch drag? Quote

paulnyw Posted August 7, 2007 Author Report Posted August 7, 2007 any other things to look at?? Quote
FasterThanU90 Posted August 7, 2007 Report Posted August 7, 2007 i dont see how u can get them out of adjustment, i believe its the arm and roller type? Quote
400rednEX Posted August 8, 2007 Report Posted August 8, 2007 how do i go about this its easier to just look in a clymers than explain, when you have the side cover off and move the shifter you'll see it. you adjust the eccentric stud by loosening a nut and turning the stud. Quote

paulnyw Posted August 10, 2007 Author Report Posted August 10, 2007 ok i took it all apart today and found a couple things one the clutch is worn pretty bad, the adjustment for the clutch was loose, and the piece on the end of the arm that grabs the star the spring in it seems pretty weak anyway i got everything out so far except for the star my next question is the shift shaft has to come out first correct?
