In my humble opinion, I think it's been WAY too long since a lot of you guys have rode a STOCK banshee. I've owned a banshee for 12 years now & for the sand there really is no substitute & I don't think I will ever get rid of mine. 2 years ago I bought a brand new 05 banshee right out of the box. It was a real eye opener as it won't get out of it's own way. The powerband or what there is of one hits early & peaks even quicker...think about it how many people on here are still running there stock exhaust? Must be a reason for that! It sucks. I have to laugh when I here people talk smack about the Raptor saying how slow it is & how tall it is etc... when stock for stock the Raptor will beat the shit out of the banshee & not look back. The Raptor is just like any other bike including the banshee, it benefits a lot from mods like swingarms, pipes, intake, tune/ jetting & so on. With my riding group you generally see 1 of 2 bikes a Raptor or a banshee, so I've had lots of experience with both doing racing, hillclimbing, jumping... & like I said to me there is no substitute for a banshee in the sand but if both bikes were STOCK I would probably lean towards the Raptor.
